Adamson University Men’s Volleyball Team Defies Odds to Secure First Win in UAAP Season 85
Adamson University’s men’s volleyball team, which started the UAAP Season 85 tournament 0-6, broke through with a 3-0 sweep of previously winless University of the Philippines at Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.
The Soaring Falcons got off to a great start, winning the first two sets and coming back from down 14-18 in the third to win the match and finish the first round strongly.
With a kill from outside the block, Evander Novillo evened the score at 21 in the third set. After Louis Gamban’s crucial attack error put Adamson up 23-22, Novillo won it with consecutive aces from the service line.
Seven attacks, two aces, and two blocks helped Novillo rack up 11 total points. Mark Coguimbal contributed nine points and three blocks, and he was joined in double figures by eight-point scorers Jude Aguilar and Joshua Magalaman.
